Fritz Hendrik IV

Fritz Hendrik IV (b.1993) is an Icelandic visual artist who lives and works in Reykjavík. He has held solo exhibitions in Kling og Bang and Ásmundarsalur, as well as taking part in group exhibitions at the Reykjavík Art Museum, the National Gallery of Iceland, the Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art, the Kópavogur Art Museum, and the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (MIBYA) in Russia. Fritz’s works are owned by many private collectors and museums, e.g. The Icelandic Museum of Art and the Reykjavík Museum of Art. In his art, he deals with the conscious and unconscious staging that characterizes life, arts and culture, among other things. Fritz also deals with the relationship between tradition, perception and knowledge in his works. What do we know, how do we know, and what are we looking at? The painting as a replica of reality is an idea that has accompanied the painting from the beginning, but Fritz takes this idea into his service and uses it to ask questions about the nature of the replica, as well as the nature of reality.
